History

PEA Tollway Corporation is a stock subsidiary corporation under the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), a regulatory agency attached to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

On July 26, 1996, PEATC was established with the signing of a Toll Operation Agreement (TOA) by the Republic of the Philippines acting by and through the Toll Regulatory Board, PRA (then Public Estates Authority) and UEM-MARA Philippines Corporation. The agreement granted PRA the exclusive right, privelege, responsibility and obligation to Operate and Maintain (O & M) the Manila Cavite Toll Expressway Project for a period of 35 years. Under Clause 15.03 of the TOA, PEATC was incorporated as a 100% owned subsidiary of PRA, the powers and functions of which is to undertake and perform the O & M obligations of PRA under the Agreement.
